Vermillion Tanagers (Vermillion, SD) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies (Elk Point, SD), 47-46 in a league bout.

With the victory, Vermillion upgrades its record to 12-0 on the campaign. The Tanagers travel to Garretson (Garretson, SD) to play the Blue Dragons in a non-league bout on Friday, January 20. The Blue Dragons come into the bout with a record of 6-3. Garretson lost 57-50 in their recent league bout against Sioux Falls Christian (Sioux Falls, SD)

Next up, the Huskies play the Akron-Westfield Westerners (Akron, IA) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 19. Elk Point-Jefferson will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record. The Westerners come into the bout with a 4-7 record after their 60-48 non-league win over Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union (Marcus, IA).
