University City Lions (St. Louis, MO) supporters left the game happy Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the visiting Hazelwood Central Hawks (Florissant, MO), 61-57 in a non-league match.

With the victory, University City advances its record to 5-3 on the year. The Lions travel to 21st Century Charter (Gary, IN) to face the Cougars in a non-league match on Monday, January 20. The Cougars enter the match with a record of 12-3. 21st Century Charter lost 68-65 in their recent non-league match against Father Tolton (Columbia, MO)

The Hawks now own a 8-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mexico for a non-league match on Saturday, January 18. Hazelwood Central will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 60-47 non-league win over Centralia (Centralia, MO). The Bulldogs record now stands at 8-4.
