The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Newport Cubs (Newport, OR) and the host Gladstone Gladiators (Gladstone, OR), observed Newport's basketball team overwhelm Gladstone by a score of 63-33.

The Cubs (4-6) will now prepare for their challenge against North Marion (Aurora, OR). The Huskies come into the 4A Oregon West challenge with a 5-7 record. In their last challenge, North Marion trounced Molalla (Molalla, OR), 55-46, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Gladiators encounter the Madras White Buffaloes (Madras, OR) in a 4A Tri-Valley challenge, on Tuesday, January 21. Gladstone will attempt to improve on its 2-12 season record. The White Buffaloes come into the challenge with a 6-8 record after their 55-23 non-league loss to Stayton (Stayton, OR).
