Spearfish Spartans (Spearfish, SD) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Douglas Patriots (Box Elder, SD), 54-42 in a league bout.

With the win, Spearfish upgrades its record to 3-4 on the season. The Spartans travel to Red Cloud (Pine Ridge, SD) to clash with the Crusaders in a non-league bout on Friday, January 19. The Crusaders go into the bout with a record of 6-4. Red Cloud lost 64-54 in their recent league bout against Little Wound (Kyle, SD)

Next up, the Patriots clash with the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers (Lead, SD) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 25. Douglas will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record. The Golddiggers go into the bout with a 3-9 record after their 73-36 league loss to Hot Springs (Hot Springs, SD).
