Newtown Nighthawks (Newtown, CT) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Notre Dame Catholic Lancers (Fairfield, CT), 70-69 in a league bout.

With the win, Newtown upgrades its record to 6-4 on the season. The Nighthawks host Bunnell (Stratford, CT) to play the Bulldogs in a Southwest bout on Friday, January 19. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 8-2. Bunnell won 68-56 in their recent league bout against Masuk (Monroe, CT)

Next up, the Lancers play the Bethel Wildcats (Bethel, CT) in a Southwest bout, on Friday, January 19. Notre Dame Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 7-2 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 3-7 record after their 72-56 league win over Joel Barlow (Redding, CT).
