Illinois High School Basketball - Mt. Vernon knocked off by Carterville

The Carterville Lions basketball team scored 61 points and held the visiting Mt. Vernon Rams to 50 in the Lions non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Lions now sport a 19-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Massac County for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 20. Carterville will battle a Patriots team coming off a 49-32 non-league win over Carbondale (Carbondale, IL). The Patriots record now stands at 17-3.

The Rams (19-4) will now prepare for their contest against Cahokia (Cahokia, IL). The Comanches enter the South Seven contest with a 4-10 record. In their last contest, Cahokia was defeated by Centralia (Centralia, IL), 67-33, in a league contest.
