California High School Soccer - Rio Mesa knocks off Avalon

Fans at Saturday's non-league battle between the Rio Mesa Spartans (Oxnard, CA) and the host Avalon Lancers (Avalon, CA), saw Rio Mesa's soccer squad triumph over Avalon by a score of 6-1.
The Spartans (12-10) will now prepare for their battle against Buena (Ventura, CA). The Bulldogs enter the Channel battle with a 2-11 record. In their last battle, Buena was overwhelmed by Ventura (Ventura, CA), 4-1, in a league battle.
Next up, the Lancers confront the Tarbut V' Torah Lions (Irvine, CA) in a Academy battle, on Monday, January 20. Avalon will attempt to improve on its 1-8 season record. The Lions enter the battle with a 6-0 record after their 4-2 league win over Legacy College Prep (Santa Ana, CA).
