L'Anse Purple Hornets (L'Anse, MI) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Wakefield Cardinals (Wakefield, MI), 52-42 in a league bout.

With the win, L'Anse upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Purple Hornets host Ewen-Trout Creek (Ewen, MI) to clash with the Panthers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 7-2. Ewen-Trout Creek won 39-12 in their recent league bout against Jeffers (Painesdale, MI)

Next up, the Cardinals clash with the Baraga Vikings (Baraga, MI) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 22. Wakefield will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record.
