Commerce Tigers (Commerce, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Chisum Mustangs (Paris, TX), 59-58 in a league bout.

With the victory, Commerce upgrades its record to 11-9 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Grand Saline (Grand Saline, TX) to play the Indians in a 3A Region II District 12 bout on Friday, January 5. The Indians come into the bout with a record of 8-14. Grand Saline lost 68-55 in their recent league bout against Rains (Emory, TX)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Edgewood Bulldogs (Edgewood, TX) in a 3A Region II District 12 bout, on Friday, January 5. Chisum will attempt to upgrade on its 18-7 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 13-8 record after their 33-29 league win over Lone Oak (Lone Oak, TX).
