Gordon Longhorns (Gordon, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Jayton Jaybirds (Jayton, TX), 42-32 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Gordon upgrades its record to 16-8 on the campaign. The Longhorns travel to Lingleville (Lingleville, TX) to play the Cardinals in a 1A Region III District 19 bout on Friday, January 5. The Cardinals come into the bout with a record of 5-10. Lingleville lost 82-20 in their recent league bout against Gorman (Gorman, TX)

Next up, the Jaybirds play the Motley County Matadors (Matador, TX) in a 1A Region I District 5 bout, on Friday, January 5. Jayton will attempt to upgrade on its 13-10 season record. The Matadors come into the bout with a 1-6 record after their 37-29 non-league loss to Kress (Kress, TX).
