Silverton Owls (Silverton, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Southcrest Christian (Lubbock, TX), 54-38 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Silverton upgrades its record to 8-3 on the campaign. The Owls travel to Groom (Groom, TX) to play the Tigers in a 1A Region I District 2 bout on Friday, January 5. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 2-8.

Next up, the play the Christ the King Cathedral Golden Lions (Lubbock, TX) in a TAPPS 2A District 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Southcrest Christian will attempt to upgrade on its 8-6 season record. The Golden Lions come into the battle with a 12-10 record after their 52-21 non-league win over Lubbock Titans (Lubbock, TX).
