New York High School Basketball - Sachem East nudges Centereach

The crowd at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Sachem East (Farmingville, NY) and the host Centereach Cougars (Centereach, NY), observed Sachem East's basketball team edge Centereach by a score of 75-71.
In their next game, the Cougars encounter the Deer Park Falcons (Deer Park, NY) in a Section 11 AA-4 challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Centereach will attempt to improve on its 1-7 season record.
First Quarter
Sachem East Jumped out to a 21-13 lead, Vurichio lead Sachem East with 11 points
Second Quarter
Sachem East took the quarter 16-14, Vurichio remained hot, Haniel Merejo started to heat up for Centereach with 10 points
Fourth Quarter
Centereach started to make a game of it, eventually the teams were tied at 71 before Sachem East sealed the win on 4 made free throws late, Centereach climbed back from a 19 point deficet on 4 threes from merejo and clutch free throws and 7 points by Mike Edmond Jr.
Both teams fought hard until the final buzzer.
