Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Akron-Westfield Westerners (Akron, IA) and the host Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies (Elk Point, SD), saw Akron-Westfield's basketball squad overcome Elk Point-Jefferson by a tally of 55-46.
With the victory, Akron-Westfield improves its record to 9-4 on the campaign. The Westerners host South O'Brien (Paullina, IA) to confront the Wolverines in a War Eagle challenge on Friday, January 21. The Wolverines come into the challenge with a record of 3-9.
Next up, the Huskies confront the Dell Rapids Quarriers (Dell Rapids, SD) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 22. Elk Point-Jefferson will attempt to improve on its 4-6 season record. The Quarriers come into the challenge with a 1-11 record after their 57-31 non-league loss to Sioux Valley (Volga, SD).
