Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Union Area crushes Laurel

January 20, 2023: New Castle, PA 16101

Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Laurel Spartan (New Castle, PA), 58-28 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Union Area upgrades its record to 14-0 on the campaign. The Scotties travel to Carlynton (Carnegie, PA) to play the Cougars in a WPIAL 1A 1 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 11-4. Carlynton won 52-41 in their recent non-league game against Central Valley (Monaca, PA)

With the defeat, Laurel moves to 4-10 on the year. The Spartan host Shenango (New Castle, PA) to face the Wildcats in a WPIAL 2A 1 game on Friday, January 27. The Wildcats enter the game with a record of 10-4.
