Hampden DuBose Academy Lions (Mount Dora, FL) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Old Plank Christian Academy Defenders (Jacksonville, FL), 59-38 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Hampden DuBose Academy upgrades its record to 7-5 on the season. The Lions travel to First Academy (Leesburg, FL) to clash with the Eagles in a 2A District 5 bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 5-9.

Next up, the Defenders clash with the River City Science Academy Rockets (Jacksonville, FL) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 22. Old Plank Christian Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record. The Rockets go into the bout with a 1-9 record after their 65-34 non-league loss to Middleburg (Middleburg, FL).
