Wheeler Lions (North Stonington, CT) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Waterford Lancers (Waterford, CT), 67-62 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Wheeler upgrades its record to 7-3 on the campaign. The Lions host Ledyard (Ledyard, CT) to play the Colonels in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Colonels come into the bout with a record of 2-7. Ledyard lost 68-54 in their recent league bout against Windham (Willimantic, CT)

Next up, the Lancers play the Morgan Huskies (Clinton, CT) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 22. Waterford will attempt to upgrade on its 5-4 season record. The Huskies come into the bout with a 8-1 record after their 49-34 league win over Old Lyme (Old Lyme, CT).
