In Saturday's non-league match, the host Manzano Monarchs basketball team scored a tight 37-35 triumph over the Shiprock Chieftains.
In their next game, the Monarchs face the Los Lunas Tigers (Los Lunas, NM) in a 5A District 5 match, on Wednesday, January 24. Manzano will attempt to move on its 4-10 season record. The Tigers enter the match with a 9-7 record after their 50-18 non-league win over Taos (Taos, NM).
With the defeat, Shiprock moves to 6-7 on the campaign. The Chieftains travel to Gallup (Gallup, NM) to confront the Bengals in a 4A District 1 battle on Monday, January 22. The Bengals come into the battle with a record of 11-5. Gallup won 60-23 in their recent non-league battle against Belen (Belen, NM)
