The Sparta Spartans basketball team scored 44 points and held the host Westfield Blue Devils to 41 in the Spartans non-league triumph on Saturday.
The Spartans now sport a 10-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Montville for a Northwest Jersey - National contest on Monday, January 23. Sparta will meet a Mustangs team coming off a 55-38 non-league win over Madison (Madison, NJ). The Mustangs record now stands at 11-2.
The Blue Devils (10-4) will now prepare for their contest against Columbia (Maplewood, NJ). The Cougars enter the non-league contest with a 5-9 record. In their last contest, Columbia nudged Mount St. Dominic Academy (Caldwell, NJ), 58-38, in a non-league contest.
