The Pope John Paul II Jaguars (Slidell, LA) basketball knocked off the visiting Sumner Cowboys (Kentwood, LA), 54-38 in Monday's non-league test.
The Jaguars (18-5) will now prepare for their test against St. Thomas Aquinas (Hammond, LA). The Falcons go into the 2A District 7 test with a 12-8 record. In their last test, St. Thomas Aquinas notched a victory over Springfield (Springfield, LA), 63-36, in a league test.
The Cowboys now own a 8-17 record. They play next when they host Albany for a 3A District 7 test on Tuesday, January 23. Sumner will encounter a Hornets squad coming off a 70-36 league win over Bogalusa (Bogalusa, LA). The Hornets record now stands at 16-9.
