The Alburnett Pirates (Alburnett, IA) basketball nipped the visiting Montezuma Braves (Montezuma, IA), 42-39 in Monday's non-league test.
The Pirates (9-6) will now prepare for their test against Starmont (Arlington, IA). The Stars go into the Tri-Rivers - West test with a 0-15 record. In their last test, Starmont was tipped by Maquoketa Valley (Delhi, IA), 93-13, in a league test.
The Braves now own a 13-2 record. They play next when they travel to Colfax-Mingo for a South Iowa Cedar test on Tuesday, January 24.
