Mathews Mustangs (Vienna, OH) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Chalker Wildcats (Southington, OH), 40-35 in a league bout.

With the victory, Mathews upgrades its record to 10-7 on the campaign. The Mustangs host St. John (Ashtabula, OH) to play the Fighting Herald in a Freelance bout on Thursday, January 26. The Fighting Herald come into the bout with a record of 5-10. St. John won 52-9 in their recent non-league bout against Lordstown (Warren, OH)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Windham Bombers (Windham, OH) in a Northeastern bout, on Monday, January 30. Chalker will attempt to upgrade on its 12-6 season record.
