St. Thomas More Sabers (Champaign, IL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Hoopeston Cornjerkers (Hoopeston, IL), 46-37 in a non-league bout.

With the win, St. Thomas More upgrades its record to 10-11 on the season. The Sabers host Rantoul (Rantoul, IL) to play the Eagles in a Illini Prairie bout on Thursday, January 25. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 5-16. Rantoul lost 48-39 in their recent league bout against Monticello (Monticello, IL)

Next up, the Cornjerkers play the Iroquois West Raiders (Gilman, IL) in a Vermilion Valley bout, on Thursday, January 25. Hoopeston will attempt to upgrade on its 12-12 season record. The Raiders go into the bout with a 15-8 record after their 41-38 non-league win over Beecher (Beecher, IL).
