The Akron-Westfield Westerners basketball squad (Akron, IA), was nudged 58-57 in Thursday's non-league battle with the host Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies (Elk Point, SD)
With the victory, Elk Point-Jefferson advances its record to 5-8 on the year. The Huskies host Tri-Valley (Colton, SD) to meet the Mustangs in a non-league battle on Thursday, January 30. The Mustangs enter the battle with a record of 3-7.
The Westerners now own a 4-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn for a War Eagle battle on Friday, January 24. Akron-Westfield will meet a Hawks squad coming off a 47-45 league win over South O'Brien (Paullina, IA). The Hawks record now stands at 6-8.
