Southmoreland Scotties (Alverton, PA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Valley Vikings (New Kensington, PA), 84-61 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Southmoreland upgrades its record to 12-5 on the campaign. The Scotties travel to Belle Vernon (Belle Vernon, PA) to play the Leopards in a WPIAL 4A 3 bout on Friday, January 27. The Leopards come into the bout with a record of 6-6. Belle Vernon lost 53-49 in their recent non-league bout against Gateway (Monroeville, PA)

Next up, the Vikings play the Shady Side Academy Bulldogs (Pittsburgh, PA) in a WPIAL 3A 3 bout, on Friday, January 27. Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 4-13 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 11-4 record after their 71-20 league win over Apollo Ridge (Spring Church, PA).
