Pecos Panthers (Pecos, NM) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Penasco Panthers (Penasco, NM), 77-40 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Pecos upgrades its record to 12-7 on the season. The Panthers travel to Santa Rosa (Santa Rosa, NM) to clash with the Lions in a 2A District 6 bout on Thursday, February 1. The Lions go into the bout with a record of 14-4.

Next up, the Panthers clash with the Mora Rangers/Rangerettes (Mora, NM) in a 2A District 5 bout, on Thursday, January 25. Penasco will attempt to upgrade on its 5-10 season record. The Rangers/Rangerettes go into the bout with a 7-7 record after their 60-45 non-league loss to Tucumcari (Tucumcari, NM).
