Athens Wildcats (Athens, PA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Sayre Redskins (Sayre, PA), 36-28 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Athens upgrades its record to 6-9 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Wellsboro (Wellsboro, PA) to play the Hornets in a Northern Tier - Large bout on Friday, January 26. The Hornets come into the bout with a record of 5-5.

Next up, the Redskins play the North Penn-Mansfield Tigers (Mansfield, PA) in a Northern Tier - Small bout, on Friday, January 26. Sayre will attempt to upgrade on its 0-16 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 10-6 record after their 54-21 non-league loss to Troy (Troy, PA).
