The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) and the host Narrows Green Waves (Narrows, VA), observed Galax's basketball team knock off Narrows by a score of 54-37.

The Maroon Tide (10-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Giles (Pearisburg, VA). The Spartans come into the Mountain Empire challenge with a 1-11 record. In their last challenge, Giles was knocked off by George Wythe (Wytheville, VA), 61-21, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Green Waves encounter the Bath County Chargers (Hot Springs, VA) in a Pioneer challenge, on Monday, January 27. Narrows will attempt to improve on its 9-5 season record. The Chargers come into the challenge with a 5-3 record after their 48-42 league win over Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA).
