The Martin County Knights basketball team scored 47 points and held the host Ayden - Grifton Chargers to 39 in the Knights non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Knights now sport a 5-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host Bertie for a 1A Four Rivers contest on Tuesday, January 30. Martin County will meet a Falcons team coming off a 43-23 league loss to Perquimans (Hertford, NC). The Falcons record now stands at 6-8.

The Chargers (2-16) will now prepare for their contest against West Craven (Vanceboro, NC). The Eagles enter the 2A Eastern Plains contest with a 12-1 record. In their last contest, West Craven ran past SouthWest Edgecombe (Pinetops, NC), 58-48, in a league contest.
