New Jersey High School Basketball - Verona can't get by Weequahic

Weequahic Indians (Newark, NJ) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the visiting Verona Hillbillies (Verona, NJ), 50-45 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Weequahic advances its record to 9-7 on the year. The Indians host DePaul Catholic (Wayne, NJ) to meet the Spartans in a non-league match on Sunday, January 26. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 8-8. DePaul Catholic lost 73-54 in their recent league match against Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ)

The Hillbillies now own a 8-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Glen Ridge for a non-league match on Tuesday, January 28. Verona will meet a Ridgers squad coming off a 54-49 non-league win over West Orange (West Orange, NJ). The Ridgers record now stands at 12-4.
