The crowd at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Highland Cougars (Ewing, MO) and the host Hannibal Pirates (Hannibal, MO), observed Highland's basketball team knock off Hannibal by a score of 55-38.

The Cougars (20-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Monroe City (Monroe City, MO). The Panthers come into the Clarence Cannon challenge with a 10-3 record. In their last challenge, Monroe City was knocked off by Highland (Ewing, MO), 50-19, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Pirates encounter the Kirksville Tigers (Kirksville, MO) in a North Central Missouri challenge, on Friday, January 31. Hannibal will attempt to improve on its 9-5 season record.
