Newtown Nighthawks (Newtown, CT) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Stratford Red Devils (Stratford, CT), 59-46 in a league bout.

With the victory, Newtown upgrades its record to 9-4 on the campaign. The Nighthawks host Notre Dame Catholic (Fairfield, CT) to play the Lancers in a Southwest bout on Monday, January 30. The Lancers come into the bout with a record of 11-2. Notre Dame Catholic won 69-56 in their recent league bout against Brookfield (Brookfield, CT)

Next up, the Red Devils play the New Fairfield Rebels (New Fairfield, CT) in a Southwest bout, on Monday, January 30. Stratford will attempt to upgrade on its 4-9 season record.
