The Newell-Fonda Mustangs basketball team scored 70 points and held the visiting South Central Calhoun Titans to 43 in the Mustangs league triumph on Friday.
The Mustangs now sport a 14-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Cherokee Washington for a non-league contest on Thursday, February 2. Newell-Fonda will battle a Braves team coming off a 51-34 league loss to Estherville Lincoln Central (Estherville, IA). The Braves record now stands at 9-6.
The Titans (11-4) will now prepare for their contest against Denison-Schleswig (Denison, IA). The Monarchs enter the non-league contest with a 4-12 record. In their last contest, Denison-Schleswig triumphed over Shenandoah (Shenandoah, IA), 51-50, in a league contest.
