The Nueva School Mavericks (San Mateo, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Pacific Collegiate Pumas (Santa Cruz, CA), 2-0 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, The Nueva School upgrades its record to 7-3 on the campaign. The Mavericks travel to Pacific Bay Christian (Pacifica, CA) to play the Eagles in a Private School - North bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 4-9. Pacific Bay Christian lost 52-18 in their recent non-league bout against Marin Academy (San Rafael, CA)

Next up, the Pumas play the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies (Watsonville, CA) in a PCAL - Santa Lucia bout, on Monday, February 6. Pacific Collegiate will attempt to upgrade on its 5-6 season record.
