Beresford Watchdogs (Beresford, SD) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Scotland Highlanders (Scotland, SD), 43-37 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Beresford upgrades its record to 5-9 on the campaign. The Watchdogs host Madison (Madison, SD) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Thursday, February 1. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 6-7. Madison lost 61-60 in their recent non-league bout against Vermillion (Vermillion, SD)

Next up, the Highlanders play the Freeman Flyers (Freeman, SD) in a B Region 4 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Scotland will attempt to upgrade on its 1-12 season record. The Flyers come into the bout with a 7-4 record after their 63-54 non-league loss to Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (Forestburg, SD).
