Kansas High School Basketball - Atchison nips Atchison County

Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Atchison Phoenix (Atchison, KS) and the host Atchison County Tigers (Effingham, KS), saw Atchison's basketball squad hold off Atchison County by a count of 41-37.

With the victory, Atchison upgrades its record to 5-5 on the season. The Phoenix host Sumner Academy (Kansas City, KS) to encounter the Sabres in a non-league test on Friday, February 2. The Sabres go into the test with a record of 5-6.

The Tigers now own a 3-8 record. They play next when they travel to Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 30. Atchison County will encounter a Ravens squad coming off a 51-12 non-league win over McLouth (McLouth, KS). The Ravens record now stands at 9-2.
