Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI) fans left the game thrilled Saturday as they witnessed their ice hockey team achieve victory over the visiting East Greenwich Avengers (East Greenwich, RI), 3-1 in a league match.

The Sentinels (8-7) will now prepare for their match against Mount St. Charles Academy (Woonsocket, RI). The Mounties enter the State Championship Division match with a 6-8 record. In their last match, Mount St. Charles Academy held off Fairfield Prep (Fairfield, CT), 2-1, in a non-league match.

Next up, the Avengers encounter the Pilgrim Patriots (Warwick, RI) in a State Championship Division match, on Friday, February 2. East Greenwich will attempt to advance on its 2-11 season record.
