In Monday's league contest, the host Manitou Springs Mustangs basketball team scored a close 70-65 triumph over the Rye Thunderbolts.

The Mustangs (9-4) will now prepare for their contest against The Vanguard School (Colorado Springs, CO). The Coursers go into the 4A/3A Tri-Peaks contest with a 8-3 record. In their last contest, The Vanguard School nipped La Junta (La Junta, CO), 107-45, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Thunderbolts battle the Dolores Huerta Prep Scorpions (Pueblo, CO) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, January 28. Rye will attempt to better on its 3-8 season record. The Scorpions go into the contest with a 2-8 record after their 75-36 non-league loss to Trinidad (Trinidad, CO).
