Malvern Hornets (Malvern, OH) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting River Pilots (Hannibal, OH), 52-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Malvern upgrades its record to 15-1 on the season. The Hornets host Newcomerstown (Newcomerstown, OH) to clash with the Trojans in a Inter-Valley bout on Friday, February 3. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 0-18.

Next up, the Pilots clash with the Monroe Central Seminoles (Woodsfield, OH) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 31. River will attempt to upgrade on its 14-3 season record. The Seminoles go into the bout with a 13-5 record after their 62-32 non-league win over Frontier (New Matamoras, OH).
