In Saturday's non-league match, the host East Ascension Spartans basketball team scored a good 34-24 triumph over the Capitol Lions.
In their next game, the Spartans meet the Walker Wildcats (Walker, LA) in a 5A District 5 match, on Tuesday, January 31. East Ascension will attempt to better on its 10-7 season record. The Wildcats enter the match with a 25-3 record after their 66-40 league win over Dutchtown (Geismar, LA).
With the defeat, Capitol moves to 6-11 on the year. The Lions host Northeast (Pride, LA) to meet the Vikings in a 2A District 6 match on Monday, January 30. The Vikings enter the match with a record of 5-5. Northeast won 50-15 in their recent league match against East Feliciana (Jackson, LA)
