The Washburn Cardinals basketball team scored 73 points and held the visiting Velva Aggies to 61 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Cardinals now sport a 7-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Beulah for a non-league contest on Monday, January 30. Washburn will battle a Miners team coming off a 62-29 league win over Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] (Belfield, ND). The Miners record now stands at 7-3.

The Aggies (1-9) will now prepare for their contest against Rugby (Rugby, ND). The Panthers enter the B Region 6 District 11 contest with a 10-1 record. In their last contest, Rugby was defeated by Shiloh Christian (Bismarck, ND), 61-54, in a non-league contest.
