Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Columbus Sailors (Waterloo, IA) and the host New Hampton Chickasaws (New Hampton, IA), saw Columbus's basketball squad hold off New Hampton by a tally of 43-42.

With the victory, Columbus improves its record to 7-14 on the campaign. The Sailors host Hudson (Hudson, IA) to confront the Pirates in a North Iowa Cedar - East challenge on Tuesday, January 30. The Pirates come into the challenge with a record of 16-1. Hudson won 73-22 in their recent non-league challenge against AGWSR (Ackley, IA)

Next up, the Chickasaws confront the Central Springs Panthers (Manly, IA) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, February 1. New Hampton will attempt to improve on its 1-15 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 6-11 record after their 74-63 non-league loss to Newman Catholic (Mason City, IA).
