The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds basketball team scored 33 points and held the visiting Holy Cross Indians to 31 in the Thoroughbreds non-league triumph on Monday.

The Thoroughbreds now sport a 8-14 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Archbishop Moeller for a non-league contest on Saturday, February 3.

The Indians (0-3) will now prepare for their game against Grant County (Dry Ridge, KY). The Braves enter the non-league game with a 1-1 record. In their last game, Grant County was nipped by Simon Kenton (Independence, KY), 38-34, in a non-league game.
