South County Vipers (Franklin, IL) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Carrollton Hawks (Carrollton, IL), 48-38 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, South County upgrades its record to 8-9 on the campaign. The Vipers host Auburn (Auburn, IL) to play the Trojans in a non-league bout on Friday, January 6. The Trojans come into the bout with a record of 12-3. Auburn won 55-45 in their recent non-league bout against Greenfield/Northwestern (Greenfield, IL)

Next up, the Hawks play the Routt Catholic Rockets (Jacksonville, IL) in a Western Illinois Valley bout, on Thursday, January 5. Carrollton will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Rockets come into the bout with a 12-1 record after their 66-43 non-league win over Tri-City (Buffalo, IL).
