Father McGivney Catholic Griffins (Glen Carbon, IL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Valmeyer Pirates (Valmeyer, IL), 59-50 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Father McGivney Catholic upgrades its record to 7-6 on the season. The Griffins host Mulberry Grove (Mulberry Grove, IL) to play the Aces in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 5. The Aces go into the bout with a record of 2-8. Mulberry Grove lost 60-57 in their recent non-league bout against Lebanon (Lebanon, IL)

Next up, the Pirates play the Lebanon Greyhounds (Lebanon, IL) in a Cahokia - Kaskaskia bout, on Friday, January 6. Valmeyer will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record.
