The Lakeland Cavaliers (Suffolk, VA) basketball knocked off the host Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA), 48-33 in Wednesday's non-league test.
The Cavaliers (1-6) will now prepare for their test against Deep Creek (Chesapeake, VA). The Hornets go into the Southeastern test with a 2-4 record. In their last test, Deep Creek went down by Arcadia (Oak Hall, VA), 87-85, in a non-league test.
The Cougars now own a 2-8 record. They play next when they travel to Ridgecroft for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 6. Surry County will battle a Rams team coming off a 70-59 league win over Lawrence Academy (Merry Hill, NC). The Rams record now stands at 9-3.
