Middletown North Lions (Middletown, NJ) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Matawan Regional Huskies (Aberdeen, NJ), 59-56 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Middletown North upgrades its record to 4-4 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Manalapan (Englishtown, NJ) to play the Braves in a Shore A - North bout on Friday, January 5. The Braves come into the bout with a record of 5-3. Manalapan won 62-53 in their recent non-league bout against Jackson Memorial (Jackson Township, NJ)

Next up, the Huskies play the Neptune Scarlet Fliers (Neptune, NJ) in a Shore A - Central bout, on Friday, January 5. Matawan Regional will attempt to upgrade on its 1-7 season record. The Scarlet Fliers come into the bout with a 0-8 record after their 65-30 non-league loss to Marlboro (Marlboro, NJ).
