Nonnewaug Chiefs (Woodbury, CT) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Oxford Wolverines (Oxford, CT), 80-62 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Nonnewaug upgrades its record to 4-2 on the season. The Chiefs travel to Shepaug Valley (Washington, CT) to play the Spartans in a Berkshire bout on Friday, January 5. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 4-1. Shepaug Valley won 78-41 in their recent non-league bout against Kaynor Tech (Waterbury, CT)

Next up, the Wolverines play the Derby Red Raiders (Derby, CT) in a Naugatuck Valley bout, on Friday, January 5. Oxford will attempt to upgrade on its 1-5 season record. The Red Raiders go into the bout with a 1-6 record after their 59-55 league win over Woodland Regional (Beacon Falls, CT).
