East Rowan Mustangs (Salisbury, NC) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Gray Stone Day Knights (Misenheimer, NC), 40-28 in a non-league bout.

With the win, East Rowan upgrades its record to 6-5 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Northwest Cabarrus (Concord, NC) to clash with the Trojans in a 3A South Piedmont bout on Friday, January 5. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 8-3. Northwest Cabarrus won 55-35 in their recent league bout against Central Cabarrus (Concord, NC)

Next up, the Knights clash with the Mount Pleasant Tigers (Mt. Pleasant, NC) in a 1A/2A Yadkin Valley bout, on Friday, January 5. Gray Stone Day will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 6-6 record after their 44-26 non-league loss to South Rowan (China Grove, NC).
