Wisconsin High School Basketball - Evanston can't hold off Vel Phillips Memorial

The Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans basketball team scored 51 points and held the visiting Evanston Wildkits to 48 in the Spartans non-league triumph on Wednesday.
The Spartans now sport a 8-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Madison East for a Big Eight contest on Friday, January 5. Vel Phillips Memorial will battle a Purgolders team coming off a 69-46 league win over Janesville Parker (Janesville, WI). The Purgolders record now stands at 6-2.
The Wildkits (9-7) will now prepare for their contest against Glenbrook South (Glenview, IL). The Titans enter the Central Suburban - South contest with a 10-7 record. In their last contest, Glenbrook South was nudged by Downers Grove North (Downers Grove, IL), 40-37, in a non-league contest.
