The Monte Vista Monarchs basketball team scored 57 points and held the visiting Hoover Cardinals to 48 in the Monarchs non-league triumph on Wednesday.

The Monarchs now sport a 7-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Granite Hills for a Grossmont - Hills contest on Tuesday, January 9. Monte Vista will battle a Eagles team coming off a 52-40 non-league loss to Steele Canyon (Spring Valley, CA). The Eagles record now stands at 2-6.

The Cardinals (6-6) will now prepare for their contest against La Jolla (La Jolla, CA). The Vikings enter the City contest with a 9-8 record. In their last contest, La Jolla was defeated by Christian (El Cajon, CA), 33-24, in a non-league contest.
